Modifying or changing motor? the standard 1200 radiator probably aint up to the job anymore unless its in top condition

120y radiator:

Haven't really checked this one out carefully, but it is bigger and thicker too i think, it is probably quite easy to mount up and will fit the normal hoses, but i dont like your chance of finding one in good condition and your probably looking for something a little better anyway

Gemini radiator:

These radiators are considerably bigger and are definately thicker, they will mount up easy enough if you make up a couple of brackets and the nozzles are on the correct sides. only problem the nozzles are a diffrent size, any radiator bloke will change em for ya. I had my radiator nozzles changed and radiator dipped in acid and resprayed for $40 so it isnt expensive (not gemini though). It is more likely you will find a gemini with a replaced radiator in a wreckers and if your not beaten too it grab it, from my experience holden drivers replace everything with a brand new item at first sign of trouble, never understood this theory but i dont understand how you can even like a holden in the first place :-)

Others:

Pretty much anything off a small car will fit, just take a couple of measurement off you 1200 and have a look around. I was at the wreckers one day and took a look under the hood of an alfa, found a brand new radiator which had nozzles on the correct sides, was pretty short as it had end tanks as apposed to ones on top and bottom and it already had a thermo fan with thermostat built into radiator. i took it out sent it off to get the nozzles changed and acid bathed, took it home made up some mounts, decided against thermo fan for now as my motors too expensive to overheat, mounted it up took quick measurements, figured i could use standard bottom hose, but need longer top hose so went to auto shop looked around found a hose off an old excel which was practically same diametter but a lot longer with one right angle turn in it, perfect!, cut that stuck it on and shes apples.

even if the nozzles are on the wrong side youre friendly radiator dude can swap them too, basically just go to the wreckers with your measurments and trying find a radiator that fits them that looks to be in good condition and prefferebly fat (i.e. not off fwd car) then take it to a radiator guy and get him to make it work, you'll be suprised how cheap he is.

I've since found out radiators with end tanks use stronger water pumps, something to do with hot water rising in radiator making tanks on top and bottom more efficient than ones on sides, but i havent had the slightest hint of overheating in my car when giving it hell or sitting in traffic.
